ABOUT THE OWNER
Although the organic movement began in the early 1900s, it did not hit salons and spas until the end of the century. It wasn’t a defined movement until much later. Unfortunately, organic has come to mean certain things to the public — chemical-free, expensive, elitist — that ignore the values and ethics that inspire many organic farmers. [Northeast Organic Farming Association, ‘The Evolution of the Organic Movement’] Today’s organic beauty boom is part of a larger shift in consumer awareness of health and wellness. Consumers now have access to more information than ever before. For example, our skin is the largest organ of the body, and can easily absorb many ingredients—some healthy, some not. Such ingredients could be linked to a range of health concerns, such as fertility problems, miscarriages and cancer. Parabens and phthalates have been known to increase the risk of breast cancer; they are endocrine disruptors found in some shampoos and lotions. Consumers are learning more about organic products and their benefits.
As an organic master stylist with over 20 years of experience, Sarah has witnessed firsthand the profound impact that organic and nontoxic hair and skin care products can have on people’s lives. The journey towards healthier hair and skin improved overall well-being is one that she’s had the privilege to be apart of, and the transformations seen have been nothing short of remarkable. It’s a journey Sarah is proud to support and a movement she truly believes in wholeheartedly.
Sarah emphasizes a holistic approach to beauty, where we consider the entire well-being of each client. Organic hair and skin care aligns perfectly with this philosophy. By using products carefully, properly sourced and made from natural ingredients, we promote not only healthier hair and skin but also a healthier environment.

Sarah began her career in the hair and beauty industry in 2004. She is fully trained in Goldwell and Aveda coloring systems, has maintained and expanded her skill set through extensive continuing education and has a background in visual arts. She has worked with many mainstream coloring systems and hair and skincare product lines. She has also worked with many leading artists in the industry and loves to collaborate. Sarah is a team player, mentor and connector. In 2007, Sarah began using non-toxic and organic products in salons and spas. She had already transitioned to using non-toxic home products and organic foods before shifting her career and workplace to embrace those trends.

In 2012, she and a business partner opened an organic salon where she was a hands-on CEO for 7 years. Next, she established Ridings Co. in 2019, and began studying to become an organic cosmetic chemist. Sarah is currently developing on her own small batch, organic, refillable and sustainable products — for hair, skin and body.
